First
Time Visit |If you are coming to a day spa for the first time or if you're trying a new one, there are a some things to think about that will help to ensure a positive experience.
The most important thing in a day spa visit is that you feel comfortable. If it's possible, stop by and pick up our brochures. Have a tour. See if you like our environment, if you enjoy being here. You will find our staff friendly and helpful. |
| Arrival
| Arrive early, by at least 15 minutes. Get changed, relax, and have a cup of herbal tea. Don't rush. We try to have spa treatments start on the dot. If you are late you will loose precious relaxation or treatment time. |
| Cancellation
Policy | Our spa salon requires 24 hours notice for cancellation. We confirm your reservation for all appointments and require a deposit for many day and half day packages. |
Philosopy
| Spa's philosophy is another important element to understand. Day spas vary widely. Some specialize in beauty treatments like hair styling, make-up and skin care. Some are designed to be like a day vacation, a place to go for relaxation and stress-reduction, as well as body and facial treatments. Others focus on holistic approach to well-being and offer mindfulness courses, nutritional counseling,
exercise classes and alternative health type treatments. Garde Bien can provide all these things.
Ask for a detailed description of what sounds enticing and make sure you know what the treatment entails before you book an appointment. A body wrap may sound cozy in the brochure but if you are claustrophobic, it may be best to share your concerns with the technician so adjustments can be made. We never what anyone to feel uncomfortable or disappointed. |
| Scheduling: If you're scheduling more than one treatment, ask which order is best. Packages are set up to introduce the various treatments and services suited for the body and your comfort. Usually body treatments, especially massages are most relaxing after facials. However, hair and make-up services are always performed last. Nail polishing would be performed last as well. |
| Think about after effects: If you need to go to the office or someplace after a facial treatment, we suggest inquiring as to the effects of some treatments; skin extractions can leave skin red and blotchy for several hours. And most body treatments leave you thankfully, too dreamy to think |
| Food:
Should you eat anything before you arrive? Yes and no. Arrive satiated, but not stuffed. And you don't drink citrus before hydromarine treatments. The acid could aggravate your stomach. At Garde Bien we offer light snacks and lunches with many packages. Complimentary juices and teas are always available for guests. |
| Health Issues: Be forthcoming with your personal health so the spa can help you plan accordingly. If you have high blood pressure, or heart condition, it may be best to avoid body wraps, cocoons, or any treatment that involves heat or detoxification. If you are allergic to iodine, avoid marine products such as seaweed. If you have varicose veins, avoid heat treatments to those areas. If you're pregnant, avoid, some essential oils, detoxification, and anything that could raise your body temperature such as body wraps, saunas, steam rooms, and the hydrotherapy tub. Post surgery or post-liposuction patients may want to inquire about special healing services and be rest assured about privacy during services and changing areas. |
| Privacy and Modesty: Our dressing areas are private. Guests may use the restroom in the spa or the treatment room for changing. We provide robes for all guests receiving services in the body spa. Garment bags are provided for belongings; this follows you to the treatments. If you are uncomfortable receiving services completely undresses, don't. Disposable undergarments are available and are commonly used for many services. The therapist will offer towels which can be strategically placed for your comfort. Swim attire can also be worn for hydrotherapy services in the tub and Vichy shower room. Guests of the Body Spa do not need to walk through public areas in a robe. All treatment rooms are private. |
| Payment and gratuities: Payment is made at the end of your visit at the front entrance. A hostess will take care of your payment and information. We accept most credit cards, checks and cash. Our desire is to ensure your total relaxation from the moment you arrive until you leave Garde Bien. Recognizing good service is appreciated. Standard gratuities range from 10% - 20% but are not an obligation. We greatly appreciate your gratitude in returning for future visits and recommend our services to friends, coworkers and family. |
| Gender: If you are uncomfortable receiving services from a man request a woman or visa versa in advance. |
| What to bring: If you need to look a certain way upon leaving and are not scheduled for hair services or make-up you may want to bring a few things from home. But we suggest scheduling a hairstyle and make-up touch up with our stylist and artist to extend the relaxation. |
| Men and couples: We invite men to visit our spa and salon facilities. We have many "Duet" packages for couples. |
Other comforts:
One of the benefits of Garde Bien's facility design is to eliminate unwanted noise for a more relaxing experience and to allow our trained technicians the ability to focus on our guests. We request all guests to turn off their cell phones not only for their own relaxation but also for the other guests who wish to relax while visiting our spasalon. If you have calls to make we can provide our refreshment area for your privacy.
Even though we at Garde Bien love children, we use hot and sharp tools as well as chemicals. We encourage our guests to help us with concern to their safety and tranquility and request that children under 10 not come in the service areas. Children are not permitted in the Body Spa. |
| The younger crowd: Although our facility is designed primarily for adult relaxation and services, at different times Garde Bien's team will offer special prices and times for younger guests. Watch for special children and teen promotions for hair, nails and other services. |
